What should I wear?
You’ll definitely want to bring a few options to your session, but here are some general guidelines on what to wear.
Start by avoiding black or white clothes as they do tend to lose detail in photographs and limit our choice of backgrounds. Also stay away from clothes with busy patterns as they can distract the eye away from your face.
Always wear clothes that match your personality and personal style. Solid, muted colors that flatter your eyes and skin tone are the best way to go.
U-neck and v-neck sweaters and tops are great for women. Make sure to dress classy and comfortable and that your clothes fit well and are not too tight or loose. Solid color button down shirts with a collar are also a great way to go for both men and women.
For headshots, your lower body will not make it into the photo but still be sure to wear nice pants. Dark wash jeans are an excellent choice.
Most importantly, be sure you are well hydrated and rested and that your chosen outfits are clean and pressed. This will ensure you look your very best in your professional photos.
Should I have my photo taken in studio, in office, or an outside location?
For simple headshots, we recommend using our studio location in Mesa near the Mesa Convention Center. Alternatively, we can come to your office with our mobile studio and setup at your location for no additional charge. Environmental headshots and portraits are more personable and can provide a sense of interest and place in your photos which will can help contribute to your image and brand.
How soon will I get my photos?
Average turnaround time for headshots is three business days before you receive your online photo gallery. If you choose to have us retouch your photos we will typically have them ready is an additional three business days. Be sure to let us know if you are working with a deadline and we can upgrade you to expedited delivery to ensure you meet your timeline.
Do I need my photos retouched?
Your images will look great straight out of the camera. We use professional equipment and lighting to make sure you look your very best. We’ll sort through your photos from the session and remove any photos where you may be blinking before delivering the gallery to you.
You can then order your photos to be retouched as an upgrade to your session. Each photo you select is then given individual attention to remove wrinkles, blemishes, stray hairs, and dark circles. Our goal with retouching is to enhance the image making you look your best without your photo appearing fake.
What orientation should my photo be?
This is an excellent question and it depends on your intended use of your photos. Portrait orientation always looks best in print while most social media profiles photos are square. Additionally, you may wish to have a few landscape oriented photos as this ratio is most effective on blogs and websites.
We will be sure to discuss your intended use of your photos with you so we can better advise you. We will then use that information during your session to be sure we provide you with a range of photos that will meet your needs.
